Day 41 - Peppers

My first veggie image for this week's Fruit and Veggie theme. These are mini-sized peppers captured with a Canon 100mm f/2.8 macro lens. I used off camera lighting - camera right at about 5 o'clock and camera left at round 10 o'clock. (Took a few shots to get the positions of the lights just right so I learned from this shot.) You may see these subjects tomorrow as I do surgery on one of them :)

Day 40 - Encore for Yellow Flowers

I went to a sneak peak of "Valentine Day" (movie) this evening so just took a few minutes to recapture the yellow flowers I bought about 2 weeks ago. They are still going strong! I can't say I'm that pleased with this photo, but it works for day 40. Rather then sit the flash down off camera I actually held it and flashed all around it (manually) during the slow shutter speed.

Day 39 - Spinning Tops

These weekday photos can get tough if I don't have any good subjects lying around the house...or when I am rushed because of a car tire with a huge screw and washer being stuck in it. This resulted in an emergency trip to the dealership to get it fixed :( Anyway, these tops are really spinning - promise! Only one off camera flash bouncing off white foam board. If i wasn't too lazy I would have set up another flash, but this is it for today. Set up my camera in TV mode - to shutter speed of 250. I also used a film on the flash to darken the white background.

Day 38 - Another Livermore Barn

I got an early start for today's photo. Found this barn as I drove through some of the country roads of Livermore, CA. I applied Topaz Adjust filter using portrait in post production - I like the way it made this look like a painting vs. a photograph. Canon 24-105mm f4/L lens set to f/22.

Day 37 - Bay Bridge from Treasure Island

I went into the city (San Francisco) today for a workshop on fine art printing and brought my camera along in the hopes that it would be a nice afternoon for taking pictures of the SF skyline and Bay Bridge. Since the sun was over the skyline much of the colors were drowned out so I used Topaz Adjust to "spicify" this image. Taken with my Canon 70-200mm f/4L set at f/22 with a polarizer filter to help soften the setting sun over the city.

Day 36 - Bailey's on the Rocks

My friend Laura suggested a Bailey's shot to keep with the dessert theme for today. This took a while to shoot - not because I was sampling the prop but rather because I was having trouble with the flash reflecting in the glass. Finally a diffuser over the on camera flash PLUS the flash pointed towards the ceiling helped a bit. I could have done a better job if I took more time but I took this after I got home from work...and was anxious to drink my prop :) Taken with my Canon 100 f/2.8 macro and the props placed on white seamless paper.

Day 35 - PB&O

OK, I've not tried this combination but I know people who have. Unfortunately I'm loading this before I took a bite so will have to report back later. On camera flash pointed to ceiling and used a reflector to bring it back down over the setup. Canon 100mm f/2.8 macro used for this one.
